Vintage Coral and Double Citrine Ajouré Necklace

Opposites and duality are strong in this Vintage Coral and Double Citrine Ajouré Necklace. The texture of vintage coral is contrasted by the dark oxidized silver with piercing mimicking the coral lines. While the rough citrine and its crystalline appearance is so very different from its round brilliant citrine counterpart.

Citrine is thought of as a joyous stone with sunshiny energy to brighten up the lives of those who work with it and wear it. Also it’s November birthstone.

We are told that opposites attract, and it’s so very true, especially in this necklace. ;)

Design:

This necklace is made from oxidized sterling silver.

I work with vintage coral collected years ago, giving it a new life. The coral is hand cut with traditional lapidary equipment.

The metalwork on this necklace has Ajouré elements, or a pattern cut out of the metal. I first create a hollow domed shape in sterling silver. This allows a larger forms to be light weight.

The coral and citrine gems are bezel set. My custom bezels are handmade specifically for each individual stone. The key features of my bezels are the hand cut notches that are placed asymmetrically into the bezel as an added signature detail. The stone is completely surrounded on all sides by metal. It’s the most secure and stable setting.
